Cooking animation in-game

Cooking allows John to turn ingredients into consumable dishes at a cooking station.

When interacting with a cooking station, a list of available ingredients will appear, and can be selected to populate into the recipe window. Three ingredients and one optional spice can be used to prepare each dish. Once a dish is cooked, that recipe is learned, and displays in the 'Recipes' tab inside the pause menu. After learning a recipe it will display in the cooking window before preparing, so it's clear what the ingredients will produce. If ingredients combined in the recipe window will produce a yet unlearned recipe, it will display that the result is unknown.[1]

Most dishes can be cooked using combinations of types of ingredients, for example a combination of any Vegetable.png 野菜 type ingredient with any Meat.png type ingredient will produce Pork Chops. There are some dishes which require specific ingredients, for example only three Crab can be used to cook a Big Dam Crab Pot.

Spices

In addition to three ingredients each recipe can optionally include a spice, which applies a further buff. Each spice corresponds to a different buff, and the effects will scale up for dishes of higher quality.

Bonus Slots

When cooking there is a slot machine which immediately appears. "Winning" matching icons will produce higher quality dishes, with a bonus to both base and spice added stats. After the dish is cooked the base stats display, then increase as each star is added. In player inventory stars over the icon of the dish indicate its quality.
